In early 2003 our founder, Charles Lazzara, was living in Italy; studying wine and the Italian language. It was during this six month stay that he realized his passion for wine; the history in each bottle and the people that make it.
When possible, we work directly with our suppliers in Italy to facilitate the most competitive pricing we can. Our owner, Charles Lazzara, regularly travels to Italy for visits with the families behind the wines we sell. During this time abroad Charles is focused on learning more about the italian wine culture, gaining "on the ground" knowledge of the annual harvest, and tasting through dozens of wines from the area to better understand the movement of the italian wine market.
In 2009 we began working with the legendary importer of french wines, Kermit Lynch. We have made great strides in building these brands to new levels in Colorado and look forward to continued success with these wines!
As of January, 2011, Volio Vino will be working with Grapes of Spain, a highly regarded importer of Spanish wines based in the US. Founded by Aurelio Cabestrero, the company is making a name for itself by finding small vineyards in Spain with outstanding quality-to-price relationships.
