For nearly a century, from one generation to the other, Gottardi Family handed down the feeling of devotion to the land, snatching it from the jaws of disregard, to elevate it to virtue. Sky gives, earth receives and grows, man brings to completino. In 1904, Giovanna e Giovanni Battista Gottardi, developed their country farm near Bassano as “frasca”, offering simple home-made refreshments to passers by, thanks to their devotion to a productive land. In the 60s, Beppa e Marcello Gottardi transformed the farm into a country trattoria, “da Pulierin”, operated by the whole family. Since 1986, Gloria e Mirco Gottardi have run “da Pulierin” with passion and respect for tradition: thanks to their special attention to local products, through the years it has become one of the most important restaurants of typical Bassano cuisine.
Gloria e Mirco Gottardi, passionate in agronomy and herbal medicine, realized their dream: in 1999, Vignaioli Contrà Soarda, 12 hectares of vineyards just outside of the town of Bassano del Grappa where they grow prosperous vines and olive trees. Pristine for almost 12 years, the property of Vignaioli Contrà Soarda was covered in briars and bushes. Natural springs used to throughout and the ground was unstable. In two years of work, 50.000 vines and 1.000 olive trees have been planted. In 2011, attracted by the bond with the land Pulierin Enotavola moved to San Michele. Since March 2011, Vignaioli Contrà Soarda, a special place dedicated to the wine and to the land, has been enhanced by the great gastronomic culture of Pulierin Enotavola. Soarda locally means “hamlet on the slope”. Vignaioli Contrà Soarda with 12 hectares of vineyards lays on Saint Michael hills, just outside of the picturesque town of Bassano del Grappa , at the foot of the Asiago plateau, a site dedicated to vines and olive tree growing, since the times of Ezzelino da Romano.
The terroir, the microclimate, the position, the exposure are at the base of viticulture and they express themselves in Vignaioli Contrà Soarda wines, giving them unique characters. This zone has a very particular microclimate, due to a thermal inversion phenomenon originated by cold northern winds from Valsugana Valley nearby. Hot days and windy nights give the grapes and wines special flavours and excellent growth. The volcanic soil, where the vineyard is planted, gives the vines an important mineral drive and an unique heat. Being compact in deep but friable under atmospheric agents: vines can therefore resist to dry periods at its best. Pristine for almost 12 years, the property of Vignaioli Contrà Soarda was covered in briars and bushes. Natural springs used to flow throughout and the ground was unstable. In two years of works, 50.000 vines and 1.000 olive trees have been planted. That is how a piece of fallow land turned into enchanted fields of vines, giving life to a productive cellar in tune with nature and the landscape surrounding it. Today Vignaioli Contrà Soarda is worldwide ambassador of San Michele of Bassano del Grappa.
