Set in the foothills of the Pyrenees, the Roussillon is an amphitheater open to the Mediterranean in the east, bordered by the Corbières massif in the north and the Pyrenees in the south. Here, the vineyard is a thousand years old and the first traces of culture date back to Greek antiquity. It is in this context that we have been operating for several generations. The Domaine des Schistes is located at the crossroads of the terroirs of the Agly valley, in the communes of Estagel, Tautavel and Maury. The vineyard groups the properties of our parents and grandparents who carried their harvest to the cooperative winery. Our first vinification dates back to 1989 and now our vineyard covers 55 hectares.

The climate of Roussillon is characterized by a long dry summer season and a rainy season in autumn and spring. Exposure times are high in spring and summer. The vineyard is swept by many winds mainly "la tramontane", hot and dry from the land, and "marinade", more humid, from the sea.

As the name suggests, the domain is planted mostly on schistose marls. Our territory is located on the last terraces raised by the emergence of the limestone massif of Corbières, they are mainly on slopes. The arable cover is very low but we rely on this thin soil of maquis and on the cracks of the basement to facilitate the penetration of the roots. It is in these faults of the mother rock that the old vines draw the moisture necessary for ripening. The arable cover is very low but we rely on this thin soil of maquis and on the cracks of the basement to facilitate the penetration of the roots. It is in these faults of the mother rock that the old vines draw the moisture necessary for ripening.
