DENVER, August 15, 2018 Inc. magazine today revealed that Volio Imports ranks 3,663 on the 2018 Inc. 5000, coming in at number 36 for Denver-based businesses.

The Inc. 5000 list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the American economy’s most dynamic segment—its independent small businesses.

In 2007, Charles Lazzara started two wine businesses: Volio Vino Distribution and Volio Imports. In June of 2017, with significant changes to independent wine retail on the horizon in Colorado, Charles sold Volio Vino Distribution to a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway called Empire Distributors. With a renewed focus on Volio Imports, the business has seen dramatic growth, including a new office space in Cherry Creek North and four new hires over the last five months.

“Being included in the Inc. 5000 is a great compliment to the energy and commitment to customer service that Volio Imports has re-invested in over the past 18 months,” said Volio’s founder and president, Charles Lazzara.

Over the past 10+ years the company has grown to import wine from some of the most respected boutique wineries in Italy, France, and Spain. Volio Imports now works with over 30 family-run Italian estates, ten wineries in France and Spain, and a collaborative project with formerly Boulder-based Master Sommelier Richard Betts called My Essential. Volio is driven to represent high-quality wines that embody a sense of place—unique to grape varietal, soil, and region.
