VARIETALS AND WINERIES IN ALSACE
ALSACE
Set against the backdrop of the Vosges Mountains, Alsace is a rare wine region in that the primary production is white varietals. Its heritage is a mix of German and French ownership, having changed hands between the two countries' governments at least two times. Now it belongs to France, but the white wines that come out of this region have a personality that is hard to classify as French or German... but simply Alsatian.
