Italy is as diverse in wine as it is in food, art and architecture. With over 1,000 varietals and around 20,000 wineries in a country roughly the size of California, it is easy to get lost in this beautiful landscape.
We take pride in knowing that our producers manage their vineyards and bottle their estate-fruit with the utmost care and attention to detail. Many of our producers are third or fourth generation winemakers, inheriting their land, vines and education from their fathers and grandfathers.
Additionally, the farming methods used by our vignerons shows a deep appreciation for the land. In fact, most of our producers have been practicing “organic” or “biodynamic” farming long before the names were fashionable. To them, it is just an extension of the way their families have farmed the land for generations.
The owner of Volio Vino, Charles Lazzara, visits with our Italian producers often, traveling to Italy during the crucial points of the growing season each year to better understand the vintage. During these visits he also tastes wines from dozens of other producers in the area to gain a better understanding of each region and the awesome potential of Italian wines.
We take great pride in our offering of Italian wines, and believe that our direct-relationships with producers create a price-to-quality relationship that is unparalleled for each category.
