WINES FROM DOMAINE DE LA CADETTE
ABOUT DOMAINE DE LA CADETTEThe estate was created by members of the Montanet family and our friends who were willing to embark on this venture. We cleared the land and replanted the slopes with 12,5 hectares of vines between 1987 and 1997. Some of the plots of land used to belong to Catherine Montanet's family.
The vineyards have been organically farmed since 1999. Harvesting is done manually and the wines are fermented with indigenous yeast. Jean uses both tanks and barrels for his wines.
Vézelay is of course part of Burgundy, but geologically it’s an appendage of Chablis, as the vines there grow on the famed Kimmeridgian clay that is such an important factor to the wines of Chablis.
Recognizing this unique situation, the INAO has allowed for a separate Burgundy Blanc appellation entitled Bourgogne Vézelay.
In 1997 we were awarded the Bourgogne Vézelay appellation for our Chardonnay wines.
1999- Conversion to organic farming methods at La Cadette.
2002- Officially recognised "Organic produce" label awarded to la Cadette.
2004- La Cadette wine produced in its own wine cellar next to the church of St- Père.
13,5 hectares of which : 25 % is Bourgogne Rouge, 3 % is Melon de Bourgogne, 72 % is Bourgogne Vézelay.
