WINES FROM GIUSEPPE GABBAS
ABOUT GIUSEPPE GABBASThe estate is located in the hills of Oliena in the mountainous Barbagia, a thinly populated area of rugged hills in Sardinia. The territory is bathed by Mediterranean sunlight and its microclimate greatly favors the ripening of the grapes, but in small quantities. Their 37 acres never yield more than 2.5 tons an acre--but low yields are critical to good wine. There are also 12 acres of olives. The heights are harsh but not cruel. They help the old ways to linger here, where some people still speak no Italian, only the island language, Sardu Logudorese.
