WINES FROM DRAGANI

ABOUT DRAGANI
Cantine Dragani started their business way back in 1812. In that year the burgomaster of Caldari at that time signed a document that authorised one Dragani Emanuele to sell his products in the territory covered by that Commune. Even then the Dragani family were owners of their most famous estates such as Selva dei Canonici and Fonte Melata . It is likely that the two landholdings were rented from the monks of the convent in Frisa, who owned the neighbouring territories at that time, and as the years rolled by the two estates became the Dragani family’s natural habitat, that is to say where the family made the wine for it’s own consumption. Naturally farming methods have gradually evolved over the years and nowadays they are considered the best available.

Various documents survive as proof of the activities of a number of ancestor in the wine sector: we may recall those that declared the Dragani family official supplier of wine to the Bishop and Lords of Ortona. After World War II the Dragani family renewed all its vines and began to market across the entire Italian peninsula, thanks to the commitment of Gabriele Dragani, a first rate businessman of boundless horizons who died in 1999. In the tough years of reconstruction following the war, Gabriele built the modern part of the Cantine Dragani plant, he introduced the first technological innovations and, most importantly, he set up the first bottling plant. Nowadays, Dragani wines are present throughout the international market and not only is Cantine Dragani Abruzzo’s biggest private bottling plant, it is also without doubt one of the most dynamic companies in this sector.Over the decades Cantine Dragani has come to represent a point of reference in Abruzzo’s wine making sector.
It has always had the objective of bringing local wines to the public eye and enhancing the product via an efficient distribution network that offers only bottled wines in a number of different lines and formats to satisfy even the most demanding customer.
