Since its origin, Santa Barbara winery  has been trying to achieve two main purposes: the development of the native grapes Verdicchio Castelli di Jesi and Montepulciano,  and the creation of wines of “international taste” with originality and great personality. Owner of the company is Stefano Antonucci, eclectic and charismatic personality, self-made man of the wine, inventor of this reality, that in few more than 10 years has created this coffer full of treasures from which every year original proposals come out and awards and accolades come in.

The company cultivates 45 hectares of vineyards, whose age is included between 10 and 35 years in the municipality of Barbara, Serra de Conti, Montecarotto and Arcevia, utilizing the traditional method. The working processes that begin in January and finish in October with the harvest, are totally hand made, under the careful guide of the technicians and the expert farmers. The principal grapes cultivated are Verdicchio Castelli di Jesi for the white grapes and Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon for the red grapes. The clayey grounds, of medium mixture, collocated between 200 and 280 mt on the level of the sea, manage to assure good stocks of water also in long period of dry spell. The proximity of the sea and the particular micro climate enclosed between the Adriatic Sea in the east and the chain of the mountain Appenini in the West makes the production particular interesting.

The ideas, the technology and the respect of the ground are the passion which we have decided to build our company: improving the quality of the raw material “grape,” taking into consideration the tradition and the history of the ground but applying new concepts of production with a sharp eye to the health of the vineyards. To complete the production phase there is the careful marketing research to place our products in the medium – high level of the market, with attention to the selection of a detailed sales network that brings the message of our products around the world, talking directly with the customer and creating a net of human relationships. The attention for the customer, therefore, transforms itself into an offer of wines of great quality, personality and originality, capable to follow the tendency of the historical periods but remaining in the same time rooted in the tradition. Santa Barbara continues the experimental research to exhalt the products of our great land.
